Kopke 10 Year Old Tawny Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV KopkeNice but not blown away
It's a solid port, don't get me wrong. Warm and spicy with a decent finish. But for nearly £28 I expected a bit more wow factor — I've had cheaper tawnies that I enjoyed just as much. Would drink it again if someone else was buying though.
Great with cheese
The guy at the wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something for a cheese board and he was spot on. The nuttiness works brilliantly with stilton. It's got a nice long warmth to it after each sip. Will definitely pick up another bottle at Christmas.
Reliable and easy to enjoy
Had this at a restaurant a while back and tracked down a bottle for home. It's proper grown-up stuff at 20% but it doesn't taste harsh at all. Sweet and warming with some nice complexity to it. Not the most exciting port I've ever had but I'd happily keep one on the shelf.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present from my sister and I'm glad she did because I probably wouldn't have spent £27 on port myself. Really glad I tried it though — loads of dried fruit and spice, and it's smooth without being boring. The finish just keeps going, had me pouring a second glass before I knew it.
Perfect after-dinner sipper
Bought this for a dinner party and it was the star of the evening. Really lovely dried fruit and nutty flavours, and it's sweet without being sickly which is what I always worry about with port. At £27 it felt like a proper treat without breaking the bank.
