Ken Forrester The FMC 2024
Red 14% ABV ABV Ken ForresterKen Forrester does it again
I've been a fan of Ken Forrester for a while and the FMC 2024 is excellent. Ripe fruit but not jammy at all, really well structured with a finish that lingers just the right amount. 14% ABV but it doesn't feel heavy. One of the better reds I've had this year.
Solid red, wanted a bit more
Saw this on a restaurant menu and figured I'd try it. It's well made — nothing out of place, nice bright acidity, clean finish. But at this price point I was expecting something that really blew me away and it was more quietly impressive than exciting. Good with our steaks though.
Proper Saturday night wine
Had this at a dinner party last weekend and immediately asked the host where they got it. Really expressive on the nose, you can smell it as soon as you pour. The acidity keeps everything lively and it just kept getting better as the evening went on. Already ordered a bottle for myself.
Good but steep price
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. It's nice, don't get me wrong — clean finish, good depth in the middle, and the nose is really inviting straight out the bottle. But £48.75 is a lot and I've had wines at half the price that come close. Would maybe buy again on offer.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present to myself and honestly no regrets. The fruit is so well balanced with this lovely acidity that keeps it fresh — I had it with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was perfect. At nearly fifty quid it's not an everyday wine but for a special occasion it's bang on.
