Karri Vineyard Semillon 2023
Red 14% ABV ABV Karri VineyardBit pricey for what it is
I know £13.50 isn't exactly breaking the bank but I expected more from a Semillon at this level. It's well made and balanced, sure, but it didn't really excite me. The 14% alcohol is handled well though, I'll give it that.
Brought this to a dinner party
Bought two bottles for a friend's birthday dinner and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Really expressive on the nose — you could smell it as soon as you poured. The finish is clean and doesn't hang around too long which I actually prefer. Would buy again.
Fine but nothing special
Got this as part of a mixed case and it was alright. Clean enough finish and decent structure but I wasn't blown away for the money. At this price point there's a lot of competition and I think I'd reach for something else next time.
Good weeknight wine
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something interesting under £15. It's got a nice depth to it and the flavours are layered without being overwhelming. Not one I'd save for a special occasion but perfectly good for a Tuesday night with pasta.
Really solid for the price
Picked this up from our local wine shop for £13.50 and was pleasantly surprised. Nice balance of fruit and acidity, nothing too heavy despite being 14%. We had it with a roast chicken and it went down very easily — will definitely grab another bottle.
Lovely surprise find
Saw this on a restaurant menu and took a chance on it. So glad I did — really well-structured with proper complexity in the middle. You can tell it's been carefully made. Tracked down a bottle from an online shop afterwards and it's just as good at home with a cheese board.
