Jean Velut Lumiere et Craie Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Jean VelutSolid blanc de blancs
The wine shop recommended this as a step up from the usual supermarket fizz and they weren't wrong. There's a real precision to it — good acidity, nice fruit, and the finish just keeps going. Will definitely buy again.
Decent champagne, nothing wild
Had this at a friend's house and thought it was pretty good. Clean and refreshing with a nice long finish. Wouldn't rush out to spend fifty quid on it myself but I'd happily drink it again if someone else is buying.
This is the good stuff
I've been slowly working my way through grower Champagnes and Jean Velut is a new favourite. Lumiere et Craie has this beautiful clarity to it, properly expressive on the nose. Complex through the middle without being heavy. Absolute winner.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my 40th and honestly it was the highlight of the night. Really crisp and clean with lovely depth to it. For fifty quid you're getting proper Champagne that doesn't taste like every other bottle on the shelf.
Nice but not cheap
It's a well-made Champagne for sure, balanced and clean with no rough edges. But at over £50 I'd want it to blow me away and it didn't quite get there. Would probably reach for something a bit cheaper day to day.
Impressed the in-laws
Picked this up for a dinner party and got loads of compliments. It's got real character — not overly sweet or showy, just well put together. The finish lingers nicely too. Perfect for when you want to look like you know what you're doing.
Great with seafood
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and ordered a bottle to have with oysters. Really lovely pairing — the acidity cuts right through and it's got enough going on to hold your attention. Tracked down a bottle to keep at home after that.
