First Impressions

Jean-Marc Charpentier Tradition Brut Rose NV Champagne arrives at £31.75, and at this price, it needs to offer genuine quality to stand out in a crowded market. 75cl / 12% - In 2009 Jean-Marc introduced Biodynamics to his vineyards and is now on the way to organic conversion which is planted on hilly slopes over 72 individual plots in.

France's winemaking heritage needs no introduction, but the best producers continue to find new ways to express their terroir while honouring centuries of tradition. Jean-Marc Charpentie is a name worth knowing in this context.

On the Nose and Palate

The nose offers complex aromas of baked apple, biscuit, and candied citrus peel over a mineral backbone. Moving to the palate, the wine is rich and layered, offering baked apple, hazelnut, and a creamy mousse with a dry mineral core. The finish is extended finish of toasted hazelnut, green apple, and a fine saline note.

Food Pairing and Serving

Equally at home as an aperitif or alongside seafood, sushi, or delicate canapés. Serve at 8-10°C in proper flutes or, better yet, white wine glasses to appreciate the full bouquet.

The Verdict

Jean-Marc Charpentier Tradition Brut Rose NV Champagne earns a well-deserved 6 out of 10. This is a solid champagne that delivers Chardonnay with genuine conviction and craft. At £31.75, this represents excellent value for money. Whether you are building a cellar or simply looking for something excellent to drink tonight, this bottle earns its place.

7/10

I'm no expert but I've been getting into champagne lately and this Charpentier is really enjoyable. The finish sticks around with this lovely hazelnut thing and a bit of saltiness that makes you keep going back for more. Three grape blend and you can taste the complexity. Good stuff.

Zoe Chen VIPsAllowed - Nice but not worth the price
5/10

It's a decent rosé champagne, don't get me wrong — the nutty, toasty flavours are pleasant enough. But for over thirty quid I expected a bit more wow factor. I've had cavas at half the price that I enjoyed just as much on a Friday night.

Bought this for my wife's birthday and we were both really impressed. You get this gorgeous biscuity thing going on with baked apple, and the bubbles are super fine and creamy. At around £32 it's not cheap but it felt properly special for the occasion.

Elena Vasquez VIPsAllowed - Solid choice for dinner parties
6/10

Picked this up after the guy in the wine shop recommended it. Served it with salmon starters at a dinner party and it went down well. Nice apple and biscuit notes, quite dry which I liked. Would probably buy again if it was on offer.

Saw this on a restaurant menu and ordered a glass out of curiosity. It's got a nice richness to it — baked apple, bit of citrus — and it's properly dry without being harsh. Not mindblowing but I'd happily drink it again.

Absolutely loved this! The bubbles are so smooth and creamy, and there's this amazing toasted hazelnut flavour that I wasn't expecting at all. My partner thought it tasted expensive which is always a win at £31. Already ordered another bottle.
