Jauma Tikka the Cosmic Cat Shiraz Grenache 2021
Red 14% ABV ABV JaumaSuch a fun wine
Picked this up because the label caught my eye — Tikka the Cosmic Cat, how could you not? Really glad I did. Loads of fruit but not jammy, and it doesn't taste like 14% at all. Had it with lamb chops on a Saturday night and it was perfect.
Good everyday red
Saw this on a menu at a wine bar and ordered a glass. Liked it enough to track down a bottle. Goes great with pizza or pasta, nothing too fussy about it. Good acidity that stops it feeling heavy despite the ABV.
Absolutely loved this
I'm still fairly new to natural-ish wines but this Jauma is probably my favourite so far. It's got real personality and the flavours just keep unfolding the longer it sits in the glass. Already ordered another couple of bottles. The cat on the label is also a bonus.
Bit pricey for what it is
It's decent but at £25.50 I expected a bit more wow factor. The finish is clean and pleasant enough, just felt like it was missing something to really make it stand out. My partner liked it more than I did though, so maybe it's just me.
Brought this to a dinner party
Bought a bottle for a friend's birthday dinner and everyone kept asking what it was. Really expressive nose — you can smell it as soon as you pour. The shiraz grenache blend works really well here, proper balanced. Would definitely buy again as a crowd-pleaser.
Solid choice for the price
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something interesting under £30. It's good — nice structure and layers that keep you coming back to the glass. Not life-changing but I'd happily buy it again.
