Devon Marsh VIPsAllowed - Really good but ouch the price
8/10

Saw this on a list at a wine bar and the sommelier talked me into it. It's beautiful champagne, proper structured with loads of fruit and that chalky mineral quality. But £175 for a magnum is steep and I'm not sure it's twice as good as stuff at half the price. Would I buy it again for a special dinner? Probably, yeah.

Adaobi Eze VIPsAllowed - Converted me to grower champagne
10/10

I used to just grab Moët or Veuve and call it a day but a friend introduced me to these smaller producer champagnes and Lassaigne is on another level. Le Cotet has so much going on — fruit, minerals, this kind of saline thing — and it all just flows together. Yes it's £175 but honestly after tasting this I can't go back to the big brands. The finish goes on forever.

Zara Al-Hassan VIPsAllowed - Best champagne I've had in years
10/10

My mate who's really into wine brought this to our dinner party and I'm still thinking about it a week later. It's got this flinty, almost salty edge to it that makes it way more interesting than your standard fizz. Genuinely long finish too — you just keep tasting it. I need to find a bottle of my own.

Farah Abboud VIPsAllowed - Impressed but not blown away
8/10

The wine shop guy recommended this as something a bit different from the big champagne houses. It's definitely high quality — nice tight bubbles, crisp apple flavours, clean finish. I enjoyed it a lot but at this price point I expected to be completely floored and I wasn't quite there. Still very good though.

Omar Diallo VIPsAllowed - Stunning with seafood
9/10

Had this with a big platter of oysters and crab at a friend's place and it was absolutely perfect. The acidity cuts right through rich food and it's got enough weight to stand up on its own too. The Chardonnay really comes through — all orchard fruit and this cool stony quality. Magnum format meant there was plenty to go round which helped!

Maxwell Green VIPsAllowed - Birthday splurge that delivered
9/10

Bought this for my wife's 40th and wow, it did not disappoint. The bubbles are so fine and creamy, and there's this lovely apple and mineral thing going on that just keeps you coming back for more. At £175 it's not an everyday buy obviously, but for a special occasion? Worth every penny.

Jake Morrison VIPsAllowed - Christmas Day winner

Treated ourselves to this magnum for Christmas lunch and it was the highlight of the table. Poured beautifully all afternoon — the bigger format really lets it open up. Loads of ripe fruit but kept fresh by this salty, flinty thing that stops it being heavy. Everyone kept asking what it was. 12.5% ABV means you can actually enjoy a few glasses without falling asleep before the pudding.

Kwame Mensah VIPsAllowed - Bit too subtle for me honestly
7/10

I know this is supposed to be really good champagne and the quality is obviously there, but I think I just prefer something with a bit more richness to it. It's very precise and mineral-driven which I can appreciate but it didn't make me go wow. My partner loved it though so maybe it's just me. Nice long finish I'll give it that.
