Herbert Muller VIPsAllowed - Proper grown-up champagne
8/10

The wine shop guy steered me toward this when I said I wanted something a bit more serious than Moët. He was right — it's got this depth to it that builds as you drink. Clean and fresh but also kind of toasty? Really enjoyed it with some cheese after dinner.

Bought this for my 40th and honestly it was the highlight of the night. Really rich and layered — you can tell the extra ageing does something because it tastes nothing like the cheap stuff. The bubbles are fine and it just keeps going on the finish. Worth every penny of the £54.

Yuki Nakamura VIPsAllowed - This is what ageing does
9/10

I've been getting more into champagne recently and the difference between this and a standard non-vintage is massive. The 5 years on lees gives it this richness and confidence that cheaper bottles just don't have. Bright acidity keeps it fresh though so it never feels heavy. Absolutely recommend if you want to treat yourself.

I'm not massively into champagne normally but this one just clicked. It's smooth without being boring and has layers of flavour that keep you interested. Had it with some smoked salmon starters and it worked perfectly.

Zara Al-Hassan VIPsAllowed - My new go-to for gifts

Picked this up for my parents' anniversary and they loved it. The bottle looks smart and the champagne itself is really well balanced — not too sweet, not too dry. At 12.5% it's easy drinking too. Dad said it was the best champagne he'd had in ages which is high praise from him.

Served this blind alongside a much more expensive champagne and everyone preferred the Jacquart. It's really expressive on the nose and then delivers on the palate too — fruit balanced with a lovely acidity. Five years ageing clearly makes a difference. Will be buying more.

Tried this at a restaurant and thought it was solid. Nice toasty aromas and decent acidity but I've had champagnes at this price point that impressed me more. The finish is clean though and it's well made, just didn't blow me away personally.

Look it's good champagne, no question. Loads of complexity and the finish lingers nicely. But at £54 a bottle I'd probably only buy it for special occasions. For a random Tuesday night there are decent options for less.
