Jacquart 2012 Cuvee Alpha Brut Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV JacquartBest champagne I've had in ages
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something special and he was bang on. It's mature and layered, not one of those sharp young champagnes that just tastes like fizzy wine. Every sip gives you something different. Honestly can't stop thinking about it.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our 10th anniversary dinner and wow, it really delivered. The bubbles are super fine and it's got this lovely toasty, biscuity thing going on from the ageing. Complex without being showy — we kept finding new flavours as the bottle went down. At £140 it's not an everyday buy but for a big occasion it's absolutely spot on.
Solid champagne, proper stuff
Picked this up for New Year's after reading about it online. It's clearly a step up from the usual supermarket fizz — you can tell the lees ageing has done its thing with all those toasty developed flavours. Nice persistent bubbles too. I'd say it's a treat-yourself bottle rather than a regular buy at that price point, but definitely the real deal.
Impressive but had to think about the price
Had this at a friend's birthday and liked it enough to track down a bottle myself. Really well balanced — crisp acidity but there's proper fruit weight behind it too. The finish sticks around which I always think is a good sign. Bit pricey at £140 though, I've had champagnes at half the price that got close to this.
