Idaia Winery Vidiano 2023
Red 14% ABV ABV IdaiaExpected more for the money
It's fine, don't get me wrong. Pleasant enough to drink and the fruit is nice, but at £19.95 I've had bottles that impressed me more. The finish is good and it opens up after a bit, but first impression was just okay.
Solid but not cheap
Got this for a dinner party and it went down well with everyone. Nice balanced red with good fruit and a clean finish that doesn't hang around too long. At nearly £20 though I'd want it on offer before I restocked — there's decent competition at that price.
My new favourite
Okay I might be going overboard but I absolutely loved this. The smell alone is worth it — so much going on in the glass. Rich and fruity but not heavy, and the finish just lingers perfectly. Bought it for my birthday and I'm already ordering more.
Bought on holiday, no regrets
Tried this at a restaurant in Crete and tracked down a bottle back home. It's got this really expressive nose that hits you straight away — genuinely interesting rather than just generic red wine. Layers keep coming as it sits in the glass. Great with lamb chops.
Really nice Greek find
Picked this up after seeing Vidiano recommended on a wine forum and I'm glad I did. Really aromatic when you pour it, proper fruity smell that makes you want to dive in. Good depth to it and doesn't taste boozy at all despite being 14%. Would definitely buy again.
Wine shop guy nailed it
Asked for something a bit different and the guy in the shop pointed me to this Idaia Vidiano. Not a grape I'd heard of before but it's got real character. Nice acidity, good structure, and it kept getting better as the evening went on. Poured it with a pasta bake and it worked perfectly.
