Hugues Godme Les Terres D'Unions 1er Cru NV
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Hugues GodmeNice but a bit pricey for what it is
Had this at a friend's dinner party and it was good, don't get me wrong. Clean, well balanced, nice fruit without being too sweet. But at nearly £60 a bottle I think there are champagnes I enjoy just as much for less. Would drink it again if someone else was buying though!
Perfect for our anniversary dinner
Picked this up for our anniversary and it was lovely. Really aromatic when you first pour it — you can just smell the quality if that makes sense? Went brilliantly with the salmon starter. My husband who usually sticks to beer even said it was great.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my wife's 40th after the guy at our local wine shop recommended it. Really impressive stuff — proper depth to it, not just fizz and nothing else like a lot of champagne. The finish just keeps going. At £57 it's not cheap but for a special occasion it felt worth every penny.
Solid grower champagne
Been getting into grower champagnes lately and this Godme is a great example of why. There's a richness and complexity you don't get from the big houses at this price. You can tell it's spent proper time on the lees. Would happily buy again.
This is the real deal
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and looked up Hugues Godme afterwards. Ordered a couple bottles online and honestly it's become my go-to when I want something special. There's actual layers to it — fruit, toast, a bit of nuttiness. So much more interesting than most champagne I've had at this price point.
