Henri Giraud Perpetual Reserve (PR) 90-21 Champagne: Elegance Worth Celebrating
Champagne 12% ABV ABV Henri GiraudSaw it on a list and took the chance
Spotted this on the wine list at a nice restaurant and figured why not. So glad I did. The dried apricot note is subtle but once you notice it you can't stop going back for more. Really clean and focused, not heavy at all. One of those champagnes that makes you slow down and actually pay attention.
Great for a special occasion
Got this as a gift for my parents' anniversary. We all shared it and even my dad who normally drinks beer said it was impressive. Lemon tart on the nose is spot on. It's not a casual Tuesday night bottle at that price but it made the evening feel really special.
Bit pricey for what it is
Don't get me wrong, this is good champagne. Nice bready nose, citrus flavours, long finish. But is it £145 good? I've had Pol Roger and Billecart that come close for £40-50 less. If someone else is buying, absolutely. Out of my own pocket, I'd think twice.
Proper grown-up champagne
This is what champagne should taste like. None of that sharp acidic stuff you get with cheaper bottles. Really creamy lemon curd flavour with flowers and a dry mineral finish. Had it at a dinner party and everyone commented on it.
Best champagne I've ever had
My wife and I tried this at a restaurant in London and I've been thinking about it since. The chalky mineral thing people talk about with good champagne? This has it in spades. Ordered a bottle online the next week. Absolutely stunning.
Really good but really expensive
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something special for our anniversary. It's lovely — got that toasty bread smell and a citrusy taste that lingers forever. But £145 is a LOT for champagne when you can get great stuff for half that. Would I buy it again? Probably not at full price.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my 40th and wow, it did not disappoint. The lemon and bread thing sounds weird but it totally works — really elegant stuff. Bubbles are super fine and the finish just goes on and on. At £145 it's not everyday drinking but for a milestone it felt worth every penny.
Changed how I think about champagne
I used to think champagne was just for toasting at weddings. A friend who's really into wine brought this over and it completely changed my mind. The finish literally lasts for ages — citrus peel and this chalky dryness that keeps you wanting another sip. Now I get why people geek out about this stuff.
