Henri Giraud Dame-Jane Rose Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Henri GiraudPicked this up on a whim
Saw this on the shelf and the bottle caught my eye — never tried Henri Giraud before. So glad I took a chance on it. There's dried red fruit and a bit of spice, and it's got way more going on than your average rosé champagne. Ended up ordering another bottle the next week.
Lovely but bit pricey
Had this at a friend's dinner party and really enjoyed it. There's a nice toasty, biscuity character and the fruit is spot on — red berries without being sweet. £85 is a lot for me though, so probably one for Christmas rather than a Tuesday night.
Stunner with seafood
Opened this with a big platter of prawns and oysters and it was perfect. The acidity cuts right through and there's a mineral thing on the finish that keeps it fresh. The strawberry notes are beautiful without being over the top. Henri Giraud clearly know what they're doing.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this for my 40th and wow, it did not disappoint. The bubbles are so fine and elegant, and there's this gorgeous strawberry and redcurrant thing going on that just makes you want to keep drinking. At £85 it's not cheap but for a special occasion it's absolutely worth it.
New favourite champagne
I'm relatively new to proper champagne but this has set the bar ridiculously high. The bubbles are tiny and creamy, and there's this toasty biscuit smell mixed with strawberry that's just gorgeous. Had it with some smoked salmon starters at a dinner party and everyone was asking what it was. Already planning to get more for Christmas.
Good not great for the money
Don't get me wrong, this is a nice champagne — the redcurrant and berry flavours are lovely and the fizz is super fine. But at nearly £85 I expected to be blown away and I wasn't quite. I've had Billecart rosé for less that I enjoyed just as much. Still, a solid drink.
Best champagne I've had this year
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this and I'm so glad he did. It's seriously good — wild strawberry on the nose, then this amazing blood orange and berry flavour with really fine bubbles. I've had champagnes twice the price that weren't as good as this.
Proper rosé champagne
My wife's favourite so I grabbed a bottle for our anniversary. It's got a real depth to it compared to most pink fizz — almost savoury, with a kind of biscuity quality underneath the red fruit. Really impressive stuff, just wish it was a bit easier on the wallet.
