Henri Giraud Blanc de Blancs Craie NV Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Henri GiraudBirthday treat that delivered
My wife got me this for my 40th and wow, what a bottle. Really crisp and fresh with loads of tiny bubbles, and it's got this lovely clean finish that just makes you want another sip. At seventy quid it's not an everyday thing but for a special occasion it's absolutely worth it.
The wine shop guy was right
Went in looking for something decent for our anniversary and the guy behind the counter pushed me towards this. Really glad he did. It smells amazing straight away, loads of character, and it's got layers to it that kept surprising me. Went perfectly with the seafood we had. Will definitely be going back to that shop.
Nice but steep for NV
Had this at a friend's dinner party and it was good — bright acidity, proper complex flavours that kept changing as I drank it. But nearly £70 for a non-vintage? I've had Blanc de Blancs at half the price that came pretty close. Would drink it again if someone else was buying.
Proper champagne this
Picked this up after reading about Henri Giraud online and it lives up to the hype. Not one of those champagnes where you just taste fizz and nothing else — there's actual structure and balance here, and the finish is clean without disappearing straight away. Sat really well at 12.5% too, didn't feel heavy at all. Good stuff.
