Devon Marsh VIPsAllowed - Proper grown-up champagne
8/10

My local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something a bit different from the usual Moët. It's bone dry and has this lovely depth to it that builds as you drink. Not a crowd-pleaser for people who like their fizz sweet, but if you appreciate something with a bit more going on, it's excellent.

Bought this for my 40th and honestly it was the highlight of the night. Really clean and crisp, not too sweet at all which I loved. The bubbles are fine and elegant and it just kept getting better the more I drank. At £77 it's not cheap but for a special occasion it's worth every penny.

Zara Al-Hassan VIPsAllowed - Nice but probably wouldn't rebuy at this price

Had this at a friend's dinner party and really enjoyed it — fresh, well-balanced, proper Chardonnay character coming through. But when I looked up the price afterwards, nearly £80 is steep. I've had champagnes at £45-50 that get me most of the way there. Good wine though, no question.

Rosa Paredes VIPsAllowed - This is what champagne should taste like
9/10

I'm slowly getting into grower champagnes and this Helene Beaugrand is one of the best I've tried. The extra brut style means basically no added sugar so you're tasting the actual wine, and it's beautiful — precise, layered, and the finish just goes on and on. Already ordered another bottle for our anniversary.

Picked this up after reading about small champagne producers and I'm glad I did. It's really direct and honest tasting if that makes sense? No heavy butteriness, just pure clean fruit with great fizz. We had it with some seafood pasta and it was a perfect match.
