Hattingley Classic Reserve
Red 14% ABV ABV Hattingley ValleyProper grown-up wine
Saw this on a restaurant menu and liked it so much I tracked down a bottle to have at home. It's one of those wines that gets better the longer it sits in the glass — you keep finding new things in it. At 14% it's got some heft to it but doesn't taste boozy at all.
Decent, not mind-blowing
Picked this up for a dinner party. It's well-made and everyone enjoyed it, clean finish and all that. Just didn't blow me away for the price. Perfectly nice wine though, no complaints really.
Goes brilliantly with a roast
Had this with a Sunday lamb roast and it was perfect. Big enough to stand up to the meat but not heavy or overpowering. The acidity keeps everything fresh. Will definitely be picking up another bottle.
Really impressed with this one
Bought this for my wife's birthday dinner and we both loved it. Really expressive on the nose, you can smell it as soon as you pour. The fruit is gorgeous but it's not jammy or over the top — there's proper structure there. At £39 it's not cheap but honestly felt worth it for a special occasion.
Lovely stuff from Hattingley Valley
Didn't know Hattingley Valley did reds but this is really good. Takes a few minutes to open up but once it does there's loads going on. Had it over two evenings and it was actually better on the second night.
Nice but a bit steep
The wine shop guy recommended this and it's solid — good depth, nice long finish. But nearly £40 for a bottle? I've had similar quality reds for less. Would maybe buy again on offer.
