Hajdu Grenache 2021
Red 14% ABV ABV HajduGood but steep for a weeknight
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something interesting for a dinner party. It's nice — proper fruit flavour without being sweet, and there's a spiciness I enjoyed. But at nearly fifty quid I probably wouldn't rebuy it when there's solid grenache out there for less.
Really impressed with this one
Picked this up after reading about Hajdu somewhere online. Red cherry on the nose, dried herbs, lovely acidity that stops it feeling heavy despite being 14%. Had it with a lamb tagine and it was a perfect match. One of the better grenaches I've had this year.
Decent, needed time to open up
Had this at a friend's place and it was a bit underwhelming at first pour. Give it 20 minutes though and the spice and herb notes really come through. Clean finish which I appreciated. Not bad at all but I'd want to try it again before spending £48 of my own money on it.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present to myself and honestly no regrets. The cherry flavours are gorgeous and it's got this herby thing going on that I really liked. Sat with it for about an hour and it just kept getting better. Worth the £48 if you're celebrating something.
Surprised how much I liked it
I don't usually go for grenache but this changed my mind a bit. It smells amazing straight away — cherries and something earthy. Really smooth to drink and the finish hangs around just long enough. Shared it with my partner and we both agreed it punches above what we normally buy.
