Gutierrez Colosia Moscatel Soleado / Half Bottle
Dessert 14% ABV ABV Gutierrez ColosiaLovely little dessert wine
Picked this up for after dinner on Christmas Day and it was a real hit. Beautiful honey and apricot flavours, not too heavy at 14% so we actually finished the half bottle between four of us with pudding. Really nice stuff, would definitely buy again.
Nice but a bit steep for a half bottle
The wine shop guy recommended this and it's perfectly pleasant — orange blossom, honey, dried fruit, all that. But £21 for a half bottle is a lot when you can get a full bottle of Beaumes de Venise for similar money. Would have it again if someone else was buying.
Solid sherry-style dessert wine
Had this at a tapas restaurant and ordered a bottle for home. It's sweet and fruity with raisin and apricot flavours but there's enough going on to keep it interesting. Not the most complex dessert wine I've had but it's easy drinking and well made.
Perfect birthday treat
My wife got me this for my birthday and we had it with some almond cake. The honey and spice notes at the end were gorgeous and it just felt really elegant without being stuffy. Light enough that we didn't feel knocked out after a glass each. Loved it.
Sweet but not sickly
I normally find dessert wines too much but this one surprised me. There's a citrus peel thing going on that stops it being cloying, and it's got a clean finish that doesn't hang around too long. Good with cheese, good on its own. Fair enough for £21.
