Gusbourne Brut Reserve 2022
Red 14% ABV ABV GusbourneGoes down dangerously easy
Picked this up after seeing it on a restaurant menu and wanting to try it at home. Nose is lovely — really expressive and clear. We had it with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was absolutely spot on. One of those wines where you suddenly realise the bottle's empty.
Proper treat this one
Bought a bottle of the Gusbourne Brut Reserve for my wife's birthday and we both loved it. Really layered and interesting — you keep noticing new things as you drink it. At £45 it's not an everyday wine but it feels worth it for a special occasion.
Nice but steep for a midweek bottle
The wine shop guy recommended this and it's good, don't get me wrong. Clean finish, well balanced, nothing harsh about it. But £45 is a lot and I've had reds I enjoyed just as much for half the price.
Really impressed
Had this at a friend's dinner party and went straight out and bought my own bottle. It's got proper depth to it, not one of those reds that's all upfront fruit and nothing else. The 14% doesn't hit you either which is a bonus. Will definitely be buying again.
Solid red, not quite blown away
It's a well-made wine for sure and I can tell there's quality there. Decent complexity and a nice long finish. I just expected a bit more wow factor at this price point? Would give it another go though, maybe I need to let it breathe longer next time.
