Gusbourne Blanc de Noirs 2020
White 12% ABV ABV GusbourneProper special occasion stuff
Bought this for my wife's 40th and it went down an absolute treat. Really smooth with a lovely clean finish that just makes you want another glass. At sixty quid it's not an everyday buy but for celebrations it's worth every penny.
Expected more for the price
It's a well-made sparkling wine, no complaints about the quality really. Nice lingering finish and the fruit is balanced. But at £59.95 I was expecting to be wowed and it just didn't quite get there for me. I've had English sparklers at £35 that I enjoyed just as much.
Blanc de Noirs convert
I'll be honest I didn't really know what Blanc de Noirs meant before trying this. It's a white wine made from red grapes apparently? Anyway it's delicious — proper complex flavours that keep changing as you sip. Will definitely explore more of these.
England can do fizz!
Had this at a tasting event in Kent and was genuinely impressed. There's a depth to it that builds as you drink — not just fizzy and fruity like some sparkling wines. Bought a bottle to take home and it was just as good the second time round.
Perfect summer garden wine
Had a glass of this at a friend's barbecue and immediately asked where they got it. Really expressive aromas when you first pour it and the acidity keeps it refreshing even in warm weather. Ordered a couple of bottles for myself the next day.
Nice but bit steep
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something English and sparkling. It's really well made, lovely bright acidity and a smooth finish, but I'm not sure I'd pay nearly £60 again when there are decent alternatives for less.
Solid English sparkling
Picked this up after reading about Gusbourne somewhere online. It's good — clean finish, no harshness, decent complexity. I enjoyed it with some fish and chips on a Friday night. Not mindblowing but definitely a quality bottle.
Blew the champagne away
Served this blind alongside a Moët at our dinner party and everyone preferred the Gusbourne. The nose is just gorgeous, loads of character, and it's got this balanced fruity thing going on without being sweet. My new go-to for impressing people.
