Graham's Fine Ruby Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV GrahamsDecent everyday port
Does what it says on the tin really. Poured it over vanilla ice cream and it was lovely — all that blackcurrant and plum works brilliantly as a sauce. On its own it's perfectly drinkable but nothing that's going to blow your mind. Fair price though.
Christmas cheese board hero
Been buying this every December for the cheese board and it never lets me down. Really nice balance — sweet but with a bit of spice that stops it being one-dimensional. At this price point I don't think you can do much better for a ruby port.
Solid port for the money
Picked this up from Majestic on a whim and honestly really impressed for under fifteen quid. Loads of blackcurrant and dark cherry flavour without being sickly sweet. Goes down dangerously easy for 20% — had to remind myself it's not just fancy Ribena.
Good starter port
My mate brought this round for a dinner party and it went down well with everyone, even the people who said they don't like port. Not too sweet which I appreciated. Cherry and blackcurrant coming through, and it's smooth enough that you forget it's 20%.
Fine but nothing special
It's called Fine Ruby and that's about right — it's fine. Does the job after dinner with some stilton but I've had supermarket ports that weren't far off this. The plum flavour is nice enough, just expected a bit more for nearly fifteen pounds.
Way better than expected
The guy in the wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something for after dinner without spending a fortune. Genuinely surprised by how much is going on — dark berry flavours, a bit of warmth from the alcohol but nothing harsh. The finish hangs around just long enough. Will definitely be buying again.
