Graham's 2017 Vintage Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV GrahamsSlowly converting me to port
I've never really been a port person but my partner loves it so we split this bottle over a weekend. I get the hype now. It's complex without being intimidating and the finish is really clean considering how strong it is. Might have to start exploring more of Graham's range.
Great port, hard to justify the price
Really enjoyed this after Christmas dinner. Lovely fruit and a clean finish that doesn't hang around too long. My only gripe is £92.50 is a lot for port when you can get solid ones for half that. That said, you can taste where the money went.
Proper vintage port
Picked this up at a tasting event and had to bring a bottle home. It's got real depth to it, not just sweetness — there's grip and structure that makes it interesting to drink slowly. Lasted us three evenings and was still great on the last pour.
Best port I've ever had
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this and I'm so glad he did. Poured it for friends after a roast and everyone went quiet for a second — it's that good. There's so much going on, layers of dark fruit and this acidity that keeps it fresh. Absolute stunner.
Good but I expected more
Maybe my expectations were too high given the price tag. It's a well-made port for sure, nice fruit and a pleasant finish, but I've had bottles at £50 that got me just as excited. Would I buy it again? Probably not when there are cheaper options out there.
Dinner party winner
Brought this out with a cheese board at a dinner party and it was the talking point of the evening. Goes brilliantly with stilton. The sweetness is kept in check which I really appreciated — some ports just feel like drinking jam. This one doesn't.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a 40th birthday present to myself and honestly no regrets. It's sweet but not in that cloying way cheap port can be — there's a proper backbone to it. The balance is genuinely impressive considering it's 20% ABV. Will be buying another bottle to cellar.
