Graham's 20 Year Old Tawny Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV GrahamsDecent, expected a bit more though
Saw this recommended online so grabbed a bottle. It's nice — warm spice, caramel, dried fruits, all present and correct. But for a 20 year old at this price I was expecting something a bit more complex? Maybe I've been spoiled by some older vintages. Still perfectly enjoyable with a cheese plate after Sunday roast.
Solid choice for the price
Had a few 20 year tawnies now and Graham's is up there with the best at this price point. Good balance between the sweetness and acidity so it doesn't feel cloying. The spice on the finish keeps you coming back. Poured some over vanilla ice cream too — trust me on that one.
Nice but quite sweet for me
Tried this at a friend's house and it's definitely good quality. Loads of fig and date flavour with some chocolate notes. Bit sweeter than I usually go for though, and £43.50 is a lot when I'm not sure I'd finish a whole bottle myself. Would share it with mates over a cheeseboard though.
Obsessed with this port
I'm not usually a port drinker but this completely won me over. The butterscotch and orange peel thing it does is gorgeous. Had it with some dark chocolate after dinner and honestly it was one of the best pairings I've stumbled on. Dangerously easy to drink for 20%.
Christmas in a glass
Bought this for Christmas dinner and it was the star of the evening. The dried fruit and toffee flavours are incredible — everyone kept going back for more. Smooth as anything despite being 20% ABV. Will definitely be buying again next year.
Proper treat after dinner
The guy at my local wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something special for my dad's birthday. Rich caramel and nutty flavours, really warming without being harsh. £43 felt reasonable for a 20 year old port — dad was well chuffed.
