Grace Koshu Hishiyama 2023 Private Reserve
Red 14% ABV ABV graceGreat dinner party wine
Brought this to a friend's dinner party and it went down really well with the lamb. Everyone kept commenting on how smooth it was. The acidity is just right — not too sharp, not too flat. Would definitely buy again for a nice occasion.
Solid Japanese red
My wife got me this for my birthday because I've been on a Japanese wine kick lately. It's well made — good structure, decent depth, and the finish sticks around without being heavy. Not mind-blowing but I'd happily drink it again.
Absolutely loved this
I know it's not cheap but honestly this was one of the best bottles I've had this year. So expressive on the nose and the finish just keeps going. Had it with a steak and it was perfect. Already ordered another bottle.
Nice but a bit pricey for what it is
The guy at the wine shop recommended this and I wanted to like it more than I did. It's clean and balanced, sure, but at nearly £28 I expected more wow factor. Would probably be happier with it at £20.
Really impressed with this
Picked this up after seeing it on a restaurant menu and wanting to try it at home. The nose is lovely — really clear and focused, not trying too hard. It opens up nicely if you give it 20 minutes in the glass. At £27.75 it's not an everyday bottle but it's genuinely good.
Expected more honestly
I'm still pretty new to wine beyond the usual supermarket stuff so maybe this is just not my thing yet. It was fine — quite dry and structured, and it did get better as I kept drinking it. Might need to try it again when I know more about what I'm looking for.
Interesting find
Never had a Japanese red before so didn't know what to expect. It's actually really well put together — the flavours build the longer it sits in the glass which I thought was cool. Quiet and confident rather than loud, if that makes sense.
Decent red, does what it says on the tin
Saw this on a list of recommended Japanese wines and thought why not. It's clean, balanced, firm without being harsh. Not the most exciting wine I've ever had but there's nothing wrong with it either. Good with pasta.
