Gosset Grande Reserve Brut Champagne / Magnum
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV GossetBest champagne I've had in ages
My wife got me this as a birthday present and I'm obsessed. It's rich and layered but still really refreshing, proper stone fruit flavours with a savoury edge that I kept going back to. The magnum format is a game changer too, something about it just tastes smoother. Already ordered another one.
Really good but have to mention the price
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something special for Christmas. It IS genuinely delicious — complex, toasty, lovely long finish. But £126 is a lot and I'm not sure it's twice as good as a £60 champagne. Would I buy it again for a big occasion? Probably yes actually.
Gosset doesn't mess around
Had this at a friend's dinner party and immediately asked what it was. So well balanced — fruity but not sweet, with this bready toasted note and a clean crisp finish that just makes you want another glass. Apparently Gosset is one of the oldest champagne houses which tracks because this tastes like they know exactly what they're doing.
Solid champagne, great for sharing
Picked this up for New Year's Eve. Not gonna lie I don't know loads about champagne but this was noticeably better than the usual stuff we get. Really smooth with nice peachy fruit and some sort of nutty toasty thing going on. The magnum was perfect for six of us and the finish lingered nicely. Only slight gripe is I wish it was a bit cheaper but you do get what you pay for.
Worth every penny for the magnum
Bought this for our anniversary dinner and wow. The bubbles are so fine and creamy, and there's this lovely toasty bread thing going on with ripe peach underneath. At £126 for a magnum it's actually not bad value when you think about it — kept the whole table happy through three courses.
