Gosset Grand Rose Brut NV Champagne / Half Bottle
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV GossetPerfect for two
Got this half bottle for me and my wife on our anniversary and it was spot on. Really lovely pink champagne with proper depth to it — not just fizzy and sweet like some rosés. The bubbles kept going and going and it had this clean, crisp finish that made us wish we'd bought the full size.
Impressed but pricey
Forty-four quid for a half bottle is steep, I won't lie. But it IS genuinely good champagne. There's real complexity here, layers of flavour that keep unfolding. If you're treating yourself or someone else, you won't be disappointed, just maybe don't make it a weekly habit.
Great with seafood
Brought this to a dinner party where we were having prawns and scallops and it went down brilliantly. Everyone commented on how good it was. It's got this lovely balance where the fruit doesn't overpower the food. The finish lingers just enough to keep you interested between bites.
Good not great for the money
Look it's a perfectly fine champagne, tastes like proper rosé with some complexity and a nice dry finish. But I keep coming back to the price — nearly £44 for a half bottle means you're paying almost £90 equivalent for a full one. At that level I'd want something that really knocks my socks off and this didn't quite do it for me.
Decent half bottle option
Picked this up because I wanted champagne but didn't want to commit to a full bottle on a Tuesday night. It's nice — smells great right when you open it and has a good clean finish. At 12.5% it's easy drinking. Just wish half bottles weren't quite so expensive per ml.
Nice but not blown away
Had this at a restaurant and liked it enough to track down a bottle. It's solid rosé champagne — good acidity, well balanced, clean finish. But at this price point I expected something that would really wow me and it didn't quite get there. Would probably try something else next time.
The wine shop guy was right
Went in looking for a half bottle of champagne for my mum's birthday and the guy behind the counter pushed me toward Gosset. So glad he did. It smells amazing straight away, really confident and fruity without being over the top. Mum loved it too which is the main thing.
Punches above its weight
I've had a fair few rosé champagnes and this is up there with some that cost twice as much. What I love is how structured it is — proper backbone with the acidity keeping everything in check. Not just a pretty pink wine, there's real substance here. The half bottle is a great format for a midweek treat.
