Gosset Extra Brut Champagne / Magnum
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV GossetSaw it on a menu and now I'm obsessed
Tried this at a restaurant last month and immediately ordered a magnum online when I got home. It's just so precise and confident — sounds weird saying that about a drink but that's how it feels. The finish goes on forever without being heavy. My new go-to for when I want to spend a bit more on something that's actually worth it.
New favourite champagne
Not gonna lie, I don't know loads about champagne beyond knowing I like it dry. This Extra Brut is seriously dry and I'm here for it. There's a real clarity to it — everything tastes deliberate and clean. Had it with some fish and chips on a Friday night which is probably wrong but it was incredible.
Dinner party hero
Brought the magnum to a dinner party and everyone was impressed before we even opened it. The champagne itself delivered though — really focused and clean, not sweet at all. Went brilliantly with the starters and honestly we could have drunk it all night. The finish just hangs around in the best way.
Great birthday present to myself
Treated myself to this for my birthday. The nose hits you straight away with proper defined aromas, not just generic fizz smell. On drinking it's tight and acidic in a good way with layers of flavour that keep it interesting. At 12.5% it's easy drinking too. Would buy as a gift for someone who actually appreciates champagne.
Worth every penny for a celebration
Bought this magnum for my wife's 40th and it was the star of the evening. Really crisp and clean with proper depth to it — not just fizzy wine, you can tell there's something more going on. At £90 for a magnum it's actually not bad value compared to buying two regular bottles of something decent.
Solid champagne, bit steep though
Had this at a friend's house and really enjoyed it — sharp acidity that keeps you coming back for more, and a nice long finish. Tracked down a bottle myself afterwards but £90 is a lot for me. It's genuinely good stuff but I'd probably save it for special occasions only.
Good but expected more at this price
I know Gosset is meant to be one of the oldest champagne houses and this is clearly well made. Dry, structured, proper bubbles. But for ninety quid I was hoping to be completely blown away and it didn't quite get there for me. Maybe I just prefer something with a bit more fruit.
Best champagne I've had in ages
The wine shop guy recommended Gosset when I said I wanted something special but not Moët. Absolutely loved this. It's bone dry and has this lovely layered thing happening where you keep finding new flavours as you drink it. The bubbles are super fine too. Will definitely be buying again.
