Gosset Celebris Blanc de Blancs 2012
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV GossetOpened this way too early
We cracked this before the starters even arrived and honestly should have waited — it got better and better as the evening went on. Started out quite tight and restrained but after about 30 mins it really opened up with all these layers. Next time I'm giving it more time in the glass.
Beautiful but hard to justify the price
Had this at a friend's dinner party and it's properly good champagne — clean, layered, elegant. But £250 is a lot of money and I'm not sure it's twice as good as a £125 bottle. Would I buy it again? Probably not on my own dime, but I'd never turn down a glass.
Gosset know what they're doing
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something serious for Christmas Day. He wasn't wrong. Really well balanced — fruity but not sweet, acidic but not harsh. It just sits perfectly. Light for 12.5% too, dangerously easy to drink for champagne at this level.
Good but maybe overhyped?
I'd read loads about this wine online so expectations were sky high. It's very good, don't get me wrong — clean finish, nice complexity. But I was expecting to be blown away and it was more like quietly impressed. For £250 I think I wanted more of a wow factor.
Best champagne I've ever had
My wife got me this for my birthday and I'm still thinking about it weeks later. The acidity is spot on, really drives the whole thing forward without being sharp. There's a concentration to it that I haven't found in other blanc de blancs. Genuinely special bottle.
Saw it on a restaurant menu and went for it
Spotted this on the wine list at a fancy place in London and thought why not, it's a celebration. So glad we did. Every sip had something new going on — real depth without being heavy at all. The acidity keeps everything fresh and lively. Already looking at buying a bottle for home.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our 10th anniversary and wow, it did not disappoint. So crisp and focused, with this lovely depth that kept revealing new things as we drank it. The finish just lingers perfectly — we ended up nursing the bottle all evening. At £250 it's not an everyday thing but for a big occasion, absolutely.
Proper grown-up champagne
I'm usually more of a prosecco person but someone brought this to our New Year's party and it's a completely different world. Nothing flashy, just really precise and confident. The finish is so clean it almost makes you forget you're drinking. I get why people spend this kind of money now.
