Gigondas Tradition Moulin de la Gardette 2021
Red 14% ABV ABV Moulin de la GardetteBirthday treat that delivered
My wife got me this for my birthday and wow, really glad she did. Dark berry flavours, herby notes, proper depth to it. We had it with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was perfect. At £42 it's not an everyday bottle but for a special occasion it's spot on.
Nice but a bit steep
Good wine, no question. Lots of dark fruit, dried herbs, interesting layers as it opened up. But £42.50 is a lot and I've had southern Rhône reds at half the price that come close. Would maybe wait for a deal on this one.
Good not great
Decent red, clean and well made. The dark fruit and dried herb notes are nice and it finishes cleanly without any bitterness. I just expected a bit more complexity for the price tag. It's fine, I'd drink it again if someone else was buying, but probably wouldn't reach for it over a good Châteauneuf at similar money.
Solid Rhône red
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. Really liked the savoury, earthy thing going on underneath the fruit. Good structure, not too heavy despite being 14%. Would happily buy again.
Absolute stunner with steak
Had this at a dinner party last weekend and immediately ordered two bottles for myself. The fruit is really expressive but it's not jammy or over the top — there's a lovely savoury, stony quality to it. Tannins are smooth and the finish just keeps going. Genuinely one of the best Gigondas I've tried.
Really enjoyed this one
Not super familiar with Gigondas but saw this on a restaurant wine list and gave it a go. Really nice berry flavours with something herby and warm underneath. Smooth, easy to drink, didn't feel heavy at all even though it's 14%. Went great with my steak frites.
