Decent wine, don't get me wrong. Clean finish, good acidity, nicely structured. I just expected a bit more wow factor at this price point. It's the kind of bottle I'd happily drink if someone else opened it but probably wouldn't reach for it myself when there's so much competition around the £25-30 mark.

Bought this for a barbecue we had last weekend and it was bang on. Poured it and you could smell it straight away, really expressive without being over the top. Goes brilliantly with anything off the grill. The 14% ABV sounds high but you genuinely can't tell, it's so well put together.

Had this at a friend's dinner party and thought it was lovely, really well balanced with good fruit and a nice long finish. But then I looked up the price — nearly £40 is a lot for me. I've had Greek wines at half the price that I've enjoyed just as much. Good wine though, no question.

Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop wouldn't stop going on about it. Have to admit he was right — really clean and fresh with proper depth to it. The acidity cuts through nicely and it kept opening up as I was drinking it. At £38 it's not an everyday bottle but I'd absolutely buy it again for a special meal.

My wife and I had Assyrtiko on holiday in Greece a few years ago and have been chasing that taste ever since. This one from Gaia is the closest we've found. Really layered and interesting — kept noticing new things as the glass sat for a bit. We split a bottle over dinner and both loved it.
