Priya Sharma VIPsAllowed - This is what Zinfandel should taste like
9/10

Picked this up after reading about Frog's Leap's organic farming and wow, it delivers. Dark berry fruit that's intense but not jammy, with this earthy quality that kept me coming back for another sip. Seriously well-balanced for 14% — you'd never guess it was that strong. Already ordered another bottle.

Annika Svensson VIPsAllowed - Great dinner party wine
8/10

Brought this to a friend's birthday dinner and it was a hit with everyone at the table. Really clean fruit on the nose, no weird sweetness, just proper dark berries. Held up brilliantly with the lamb we were having. At £35 it's not cheap but it felt worth it for the occasion.

Victor Osei VIPsAllowed - Recommended by the shop and they nailed it
9/10

Asked the guy at my local wine shop for a Zinfandel that wasn't a fruit bomb and he handed me this. Exactly what I wanted — concentrated but balanced, with a real earthy backbone underneath the berry flavours. One of those wines where you keep noticing new things with each glass.

Ayako Hirano VIPsAllowed - Napa Zin without the sugar rush
8/10

So many California Zinfandels taste like someone dumped sugar in them but this is proper. Clean nose, honest fruit, and it finishes without that cloying sweetness. Had it with a homemade pizza night and it was spot on. Frog's Leap clearly know what they're doing.

Ruth Banks VIPsAllowed - Perfect with a steak night
8/10

We do steak Fridays at ours and this was absolutely brilliant with a ribeye. The acidity cuts right through the fat and there's enough fruit to keep things interesting. Warm finish at the end is lovely. My wife said it smelled like actual berries which is high praise from her.

Sophia Laurent VIPsAllowed - Solid wine, bit pricey for midweek
7/10

I like this and it's clearly well made — good structure, nice dark fruit, savoury notes I wasn't expecting from a Zinfandel. But at nearly £36 it's firmly in the 'special occasion' bracket for me. The 14% ABV sneaks up on you too, fair warning.

Ethan Cooper VIPsAllowed - Good but not sure I'd rebuy at this price
7/10

Decent Zinfandel with nice dark fruit and some savoury depth that I enjoyed. The finish is clean and doesn't linger too long which I actually liked. But £35+ is a lot for a Zin when there are solid options for £20. Would happily drink it again if someone else was buying though.

Valentina Ricci VIPsAllowed - Birthday treat that did not disappoint
9/10

My partner got me this for my birthday after I mentioned wanting to try more Rutherford wines. The berry aromatics hit you straight away and then there's this lovely earthy complexity on the palate that builds as you drink it. Genuinely one of the best Zinfandels I've had. The finish just trails off perfectly — not too much, not too little.
