Daisy Miller VIPsAllowed - Bit pricey for what it is
5/10

Saw good reviews online so gave it a go. It's alright — nice plum and berry flavours, quite smooth. But £16 for a Jumilla Monastrell feels steep when you can get similar quality for a tenner. The chocolate notes on the finish were nice though.

Gianluca Ferro VIPsAllowed - Spanish gem

Had this at a friend's BBQ and immediately asked what it was. Really elegant for a big Spanish red — none of that jammy heaviness you sometimes get. Lovely floral thing going on with the red fruit. Tracked a bottle down the next week.

Marco Andretti VIPsAllowed - Love the elephant label

Ok the label drew me in, I'll admit it. But the wine is genuinely nice — chocolatey and smooth with a berry sweetness that isn't over the top. Went down very easily with a pizza night. Dangerously drinkable for 14%.

On its own I wasn't blown away but then we had it with a lamb tagine and it properly came alive. The berry fruit and that slight herby thing really worked. Monastrell is an underrated grape honestly.

Jorge Castillo VIPsAllowed - Fine but nothing special

Got this for a dinner party and it was... fine? Nice enough dark berry flavours but at nearly £16 I expected a bit more going on. My mate brought a Malbec that was half the price and honestly I preferred it.

Connor McBride VIPsAllowed - Decent midweek red

The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something full-bodied under £20. It does the job. Plummy, bit of vanilla, easy drinking. Not sure I'd rush back for it specifically but no complaints.

Thomas Weber VIPsAllowed - Really solid for the price
7/10

Picked this up from Majestic on a whim and honestly pleasantly surprised. Loads of plum and dark fruit, smooth tannins, and it didn't taste like a 14% bruiser at all. Would happily buy again for a weeknight steak.

James Okafor VIPsAllowed - Birthday treat that delivered
8/10

My wife got me this for my birthday because she knows I like Spanish reds. This is proper — rich blackberry and vanilla, silky smooth, and a lovely dry finish. One of the better bottles I've had this year. Already ordered more.
