Feuerheerds 10 Year Old Tawny Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV FeuerheerdsBrilliant with cheese
The guy in my local wine shop recommended this and he was bang on. Had it with a stilton after Sunday roast and it was perfect — the orange peel and spice cut through the cheese really well. At 20% it's properly warming too. Will be getting more.
Decent tawny, does what it says on the tin
Not a brand I'd heard of before but gave it a go because the price was right. Butterscotch and walnut flavours, nice long finish. It's not going to blow your mind but it's a reliable port for a weeknight treat. Poured it over vanilla ice cream too — amazing.
Punching well above its weight
I've been slowly working my way through the 10-year tawnies and this is honestly one of the best I've tried under £25. Layers of dried fig, date, spice — it keeps revealing new things as it opens up. Bought it for a dinner party and three people asked me where I got it.
Nice enough, bit one-note
Got this as a birthday present and it was perfectly drinkable. Lots of caramel and dried apricot on the nose which was nice. Found the palate a bit samey after a few sips though — wanted a bit more going on for a 10-year-old port.
Really lovely port for the money
Picked this up on a whim from Majestic and it's become my go-to after-dinner drink. The dried fruit and caramel thing it has going on is gorgeous, and at just over twenty quid it's a steal for a 10-year tawny. Definitely buying another bottle before Christmas.
Solid but not spectacular
Good honest port. You get the nutty, figgy flavours you'd expect from a tawny and it's well balanced — not too sweet. I'd say it's fair value at around £20 but I've had slightly better from Niepoort at a similar price.
