Ferghettina Franciacorta Brut NV
Red 14% ABV ABV FerghettinaBlown away honestly
I'm not a massive wine person but my partner is, and he went on about how good this was for ages. Even I could tell it was special — the bubbles are tiny and persistent and it just keeps giving you flavour. Best sparkling wine I've had outside of actual champagne.
Great with food
Saw Franciacorta on a restaurant menu last year and been curious ever since. This one is really nice — proper structure to it, not just a light fizzy thing. Had it with some pasta and it held up brilliantly. The acidity cuts through richer dishes no problem.
Nice but a bit pricey for what it is
It's a decent sparkling wine, don't get me wrong, but nearly £30 feels steep when you can get a good cava for half that. The bubbles are lovely and fine, and it's got a clean finish. Just not sure I'd reach for it regularly at this price.
Proper fizz, not just bubbles
Picked this up for my wife's birthday and we were both really impressed. The bubbles are super fine and it's got way more going on than your average prosecco. At £29 it's not cheap but honestly felt worth it for a special occasion.
Reliable choice for entertaining
Bought a few bottles for a New Year's gathering. Everyone enjoyed it and a couple of people asked what it was. It's confident and well-made without being showy. The finish really does make you want another sip, which is either a good thing or an expensive habit.
Solid Italian sparkler
The wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something different from champagne. It's really well made — you can tell it's a step up from prosecco. Good depth of flavour and proper crisp acidity. Would buy again but probably keep it for when we have people over.
This stuff is dangerous
Had this at a friend's dinner party and immediately asked where she got it. So easy to drink — really generous and full-bodied for a sparkling wine. The 14% ABV sneaks up on you though, fair warning! Ordered a couple of bottles for myself the next day.
Good not great
Maybe my expectations were too high after reading about Franciacorta being Italy's answer to champagne. It's perfectly pleasant with nice precision and clean flavours, but at this price point I think I'd still lean towards a mid-range champagne. That said the mousse is gorgeous — really silky.
