Emmanuel Brochet Le Mont Benoit NV Champagne / Extra Brut
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Emmanuel BrochetBirthday treat that did not disappoint
Got this as a birthday present to myself because life's too short. Extra brut is exactly how I like my champagne — dry and serious. There's a real sense of balance here and it just kept getting better as it opened up. At 12.5% it's dangerously easy to drink too.
Stole the show at our dinner party
Served this blind alongside two other champagnes and everyone picked this one as their favourite. It's got this really expressive nose that grabs your attention straight away. Structured and balanced without being boring. My friend who "doesn't really get champagne" even asked what it was.
Best champagne I've had in ages
Picked this up after reading about Emmanuel Brochet online and I'm so glad I did. The smell alone is incredible — really hits you the second you pour. Everything about it just works together perfectly. Already ordered another bottle.
Nice but maybe not for me
I tend to prefer something a bit fruitier and more upfront. This one takes its time and is more about subtlety and layers, which I can appreciate but it's not really my style. Well made for sure though, and the finish is lovely and clean. Probably better suited to someone who geeks out over this stuff more than I do.
Worth every penny for a special night
Bought this for our anniversary dinner and wow, it really delivered. There's so much going on — every sip kept revealing something new. The finish just lingers and lingers, kept catching myself going back for another taste. At £84 it's not an everyday thing but for a celebration? Absolutely.
Really good but have to mention the price
Look, this is a lovely champagne. Clean, complex, keeps you coming back to the glass. But £84 is a lot and I've had bottles at £50 that come close. If someone else is buying, fantastic. For my own money I'd think twice.
Had this at a restaurant, tracked it down after
Saw this on a wine list and the waiter talked me into it. First sip I wasn't sure, but by the third glass I was completely sold. It's one of those wines that sort of unfolds over time rather than hitting you all at once. Tracked down a bottle online — bit pricey but I wanted to have it at home too.
Seriously impressive champagne
My local wine shop guy recommended this when I said I wanted something a step up from the usual suspects. It's got real depth to it and the acidity is spot on. Not your typical crowd-pleaser — you need to sit with it a bit, but it rewards you. Would buy again for the right occasion.
