El Otro Chardonnay Macabeo 2024
White 12% ABV ABV El OtroGood but not amazing
Decent enough white wine. Nice and crisp, does the job with a chicken salad or fish and chips. Wouldn't rush back for it but wouldn't turn it down either. Fair price for what you get.
It's alright
My wife picked this up and we shared it over a Friday night takeaway. Pleasant enough but a bit forgettable if I'm honest. The nose is probably the best bit — quite fruity and inviting. For £11.50 I'd probably try something else next time.
Expected more honestly
The wine shop guy recommended this and talked it up quite a bit. It's fine — clean and easy drinking — but I've had Spanish whites at £8 that are just as good. The finish is nice though, I'll give it that.
Solid midweek white
Nothing wrong with this at all. Clean, balanced, goes down easy. Had it with some pasta and it worked well. At 12% it's not too heavy either which I appreciate on a school night.
Great dinner party find
Bought two bottles for a dinner party and everyone commented on it. Really aromatic when you pour it, you can smell it straight away without sticking your nose right in the glass. The Chardonnay-Macabeo blend is interesting, feels lighter than a straight Chardonnay. Would buy again.
Lovely stuff, really surprised me
Saw this on a menu at a tapas place and ordered a bottle to take home after trying a glass. The acidity keeps it really fresh and zippy and there's more complexity than you'd expect at this price point. One of those wines that just makes you keep reaching for another sip.
Really nice for the price
Picked this up from Majestic on a whim and genuinely impressed. It's got this lovely clean freshness to it with enough going on to keep you interested. At £11.50 it's a solid everyday white that punches above its weight.
