Egly Ouriet Les Vignes de Vrigny 1er Cru Brut Champagne
Champagne 12.5% ABV ABV Egly-OurietPunches above its weight
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and figured I'd try something different from the usual suspects. Really glad I did. There's a structure to it that surprised me — bright and zippy but also kind of serious? The finish just keeps going. I'm not a champagne expert by any means but this one stood out.
Birthday treat that delivered
Bought this for my wife's 40th after the guy at our local wine shop recommended it. Really impressive stuff — the bubbles are fine and it's got this lovely depth to it, proper layers of flavour that kept revealing themselves through the evening. At £75 it's not cheap but for a special occasion it felt worth every penny.
Solid champagne, not your average fizz
Had this at a friend's dinner party and had to track down a bottle for myself. It's got a really crisp acidity that keeps it fresh and interesting, not sweet or flabby like some champagnes I've had. You can tell there's proper craft behind it. Would definitely buy again for Christmas or anniversaries.
Good but a lot of money
Look, it's nice champagne — smells great straight out of the bottle and tastes complex and well-balanced. But £75 is a big ask when there are solid options for half that. I'd say it's one for when someone else is paying or you really want to impress. Not an everyday buy for me.
