Edi Simcic Rebula 2022
Red 14% ABV ABV Edi SimcicSlovenian wines are so underrated
I've been getting into wines from Slovenia lately and this Rebula from Edi Simcic is a proper find. Really expressive nose, and on the palate there's this lovely balance between fruit and acidity. Left it in the glass for a while and it just kept getting better. Honestly one of the best bottles I've had under £30 this year.
Good but not amazing for the price
Had this at a friend's house and thought it was decent. Nice structure and the acidity kept it interesting, but for nearly thirty quid I expected a bit more wow factor. It grew on me over the evening though, I'll give it that.
Great dinner party wine
Brought this to a dinner party and everyone kept going back for more. It's got a really clean finish that just makes you want another sip. Worked brilliantly with the lamb we had. The 14% ABV caught up with a couple of us by the end of the night though!
Really impressed with this one
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. Poured a glass and it just had this really confident aroma straight away, like you could tell it was going to be good. Gave it an hour to open up and it got even better — loads of layers coming through. At £29 it's not cheap for a weeknight but I'd happily buy it again for a nice dinner.
