Domaine Jean Collet Chablis Village 2023
Red 14% ABV ABV Jean ColletDecent but a bit pricey
It's fine, perfectly drinkable, nice enough acidity and clean finish. But nearly £25 for a village level Chablis feels steep when you can get something similar for a fiver less. Wouldn't turn it down at a dinner party though.
Wine shop recommendation
The guy at my local recommended this when I said I wanted something for a fish supper. Does the job nicely — brisk and fresh with a clean finish. Not the most exciting wine I've ever had but it's well made and I'd trust Jean Collet again.
Great with seafood pasta
Saw this on a restaurant wine list, looked it up and ordered a bottle online instead. Goes brilliantly with a prawn linguine. Quite precise and focused rather than big and fruity, which I like. The finish has this subtle chalky quality that keeps it interesting.
Really impressed with this one
Picked this up from Majestic on a whim and glad I did. Lovely crisp acidity with proper mineral character — you can really taste the limestone coming through. At £25 it's not an everyday buy but it punches well above its weight for a village Chablis.
Birthday treat that delivered
My wife got me this for my birthday and honestly it's one of the better Chablis I've had at this price point. Really expressive on the nose and there's a complexity in the middle that kept me going back for another sip. Restrained but interesting — exactly what I want from Chablis.
Expected more honestly
Maybe I caught a bad bottle but this didn't blow me away. It was crisp and fine but at 14% ABV it felt a touch warm for what I expect from Chablis. The acidity was nice enough but I've had better at this price. Not bad, just not special.
Solid weeknight Chablis
Had this with roast chicken on a Friday night and it was spot on. Clean and fresh, not too fruity, not too lean. The finish lingers nicely without being over the top. Would buy again but might wait for an offer.
