Proper Burgundy

Had this at a restaurant and liked it so much I tracked down a bottle for home. Really earthy and complex with that forest floor thing going on underneath the fruit. Pinot Noir done right basically. Decant it for an hour though, it needs the air.

Birthday treat that delivered

My wife got me this for my 40th and wow, what a bottle. The dark fruit flavours are incredible — like really rich bramble and plum. Tannins are smooth as anything and the finish just keeps going. At £95 it's not an everyday wine but for a special occasion it's absolutely spot on.

This is what Burgundy is about

I've been slowly getting into Burgundy over the past year and this is probably the best bottle I've had so far. The fruit is dark and brooding but there's this lovely mineral edge underneath that keeps it interesting. Served it at a dinner party and everyone commented on it.

Bit pricey for what it is

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice wine. Smooth tannins, good red fruit, that earthy thing Burgundy does well. But at £95 I expected to be blown away and I was more like... pleasantly impressed? The finish is really good though, I'll give it that. Kept wanting another sip.

Saw this on a list and took the plunge

Spotted this on a wine bar menu and figured life's short. Really glad I did. Dark mulberry fruit with a smoky quality that I wasn't expecting. Goes from fruity to savoury as you drink it which is cool. Would love to try it again in a few years actually.

Good but stretching the budget

The wine shop guy recommended this and it is genuinely lovely — silky, lots of dark berry fruit, nice spice on the nose. But nearly a hundred quid is a lot and I've had Burgundies at £60 that came close. Would I buy it again? Maybe for Christmas.

Steak night winner

Opened this with a ribeye and it was perfect. The smoky, savoury quality really works with red meat. There's a clove spice thing happening on the nose that I really enjoyed. 14% ABV so it packs a punch too — two glasses and I was nicely sorted.
