Domaine Eric Forest Pouilly Fuisse Les Crays 2023
Red 14% ABV ABV Eric ForestNice enough, bit heavy for me
My partner picked this up and we had it with pasta on a Friday night. It's well made and the flavours are interesting but at 14% it's quite full-on. I tend to prefer something a bit lighter personally. The finish is lovely though, really clean and long.
Good but not sure it's worth the price
It's a solid wine, well made, balanced, all that. But at nearly fifty quid I expected to be a bit more blown away. The 14% ABV gives it proper weight which I liked, and it does open up nicely after sitting in the glass for a bit. Just not sure I'd pick it over some cheaper options.
Great find from Eric Forest
Been slowly working my way through Pouilly-Fuissé producers and this Les Crays from Eric Forest is one of the better ones I've tried. You can really smell the vineyard character coming through, nothing masked by oak or winemaking tricks. Structured, balanced, and the acidity stops it feeling too rich despite the high ABV. Worth the money if you like this style.
Wine shop guy nailed it again
Asked my local wine shop for something interesting around the £50 mark and he pulled this out. Big aromatic hit as soon as you pour it, loads of fruit but with a nice acidity keeping things in check. The finish just keeps going too. Will definitely buy again.
Proper dinner party wine
Brought this to a friend's dinner party and it went down really well with the lamb. Smells amazing straight away — you don't have to swirl it around for ages waiting for something to happen. Everybody asked where I got it from.
This one surprised me
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and took a punt on it. So glad I did. It's got real depth and complexity but it's not one of those wines where you feel like you need a degree to appreciate it. Genuinely kept getting better as the evening went on. Tracked down a bottle to have at home after.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this for my 40th birthday dinner and wow, it did not disappoint. Really rich and full but not like drinking syrup — there's a freshness that keeps you going back. At £48 it's not an everyday bottle but for a special occasion it's spot on.
