Domaine de Cebene Faugeres 'Belle Lurette' 2020
Red 14% ABV ABV De CebeneSolid French red
Had this at a friend's dinner party and thought it was pretty good. Nice and structured without being too heavy, even at 14%. I liked the savoury finish — kept going back for another sip. Would I buy it myself at £30? Maybe for a special occasion.
Really impressed with this one
Picked this up from my local wine shop on a whim and glad I did. Lovely dark fruit, almost blackberry-ish, and it's got this sort of stony, earthy thing going on underneath that I really enjoyed. Went brilliantly with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder. At £30 it's not an everyday bottle but it's a proper treat.
Birthday treat that delivered
My partner got me this for my birthday and we both loved it. Give it 20 minutes to open up and it really comes alive — loads of dark berry flavours and something almost mineral-ly that makes it interesting. The finish just lingers and lingers. Felt like a proper grown-up wine without being stuffy.
Good but not amazing for the price
The wine shop guy recommended this and it's decent enough — dark fruity, smooth tannins, drinks well. But honestly for nearly thirty quid I expected a bit more wow factor. It's nice, just not sure it's £30 nice when there are cracking Languedoc reds for half that.
