First Impressions

Domaine Chicotot Nuits-St-Georges Aux Allots 2021 arrives at £69.25 for 75cl, and at this price point, expectations are rightly elevated. Domaine Chicotot, with 17 hectares of organically farmed vines over 60 years old, is a rising star in Nuits-Saint-Georges.

France's winemaking heritage needs no introduction, but the best producers continue to find new ways to express their terroir while honouring centuries of tradition. Chicotot is a name worth knowing in this context.

On the Nose and Palate

The nose offers lifted red fruit aromas of strawberry and redcurrant, supported by floral notes of rose and garrigue herbs. Moving to the palate, the wine is elegant and medium-bodied, showing red fruit purity with floral lift, silky tannins, and a mineral thread. The finish is smooth and lasting, with a final note of blackcurrant, tobacco leaf, and warm cedar.

Food Pairing and Serving

This pairs beautifully with roasted red meats, aged cheeses, and hearty stews. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30 minutes to let the aromas fully develop.

The Verdict

Domaine Chicotot Nuits-St-Georges Aux Allots 2021 earns a well-deserved 8 out of 10. This is an outstanding red that delivers its blend with genuine conviction and craft. At £69.25, this sits in premium territory, and it delivers the quality to match. Whether you're building a cellar or simply looking for something excellent to drink tonight, this bottle earns its place.

I'm more of a Rioja person usually but a mate brought this to a dinner party and it kind of converted me. Really pretty nose, roses and redcurrant, and it's lighter than what I normally drink but in a good way. The finish keeps changing which is cool — starts fruity then goes into this darker spicy thing.

Saw this on a restaurant list and ordered a bottle on a whim. Silky smooth, loads of fresh red fruit, and not too heavy at 13.5%. The kind of wine where you look down and the bottle's suddenly empty. Would absolutely buy again if I spot it for under seventy.

Bought this for my 40th and honestly glad I splashed out. The strawberry and floral thing going on is gorgeous — really elegant without being boring. Tannins are super smooth, not one of those wines that dries your mouth out. Finish goes on forever too, kept getting these little hints of cedar and tobacco.

Wine shop guy talked me into this and yeah it's good — proper Burgundy, red fruit, nice mineral edge to it. But nearly seventy quid? I'd want to save this for a special occasion. Had it with roast lamb and it worked a treat though.
