Domaine Chatzivaritis Migma Pet Nat White 2023
White 12% ABV ABV ChatzivaritisNot really for me
My partner loved it but I found it a bit unusual for my taste. I usually go for a straightforward sauvignon blanc so this was a big departure. The quality is obviously there and the finish is smooth, I just prefer something simpler. Wouldn't say it's bad, just not my style.
Really fun wine
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. Never had a pet nat before and honestly I'm converted — it's fizzy but not in a prosecco way, more like a gentle sparkle. The acidity keeps it really refreshing and I finished the bottle way too fast on a Tuesday night.
Solid but not cheap
Got this for a dinner party and it was a great conversation starter — nobody had heard of it and the natural fizz caught people off guard. Tastes layered and interesting, not just one-note fruit. At £33 though, it's not something I'd grab every week.
Best pet nat I've tried
I've been getting into natural wines recently and this is genuinely one of the best pet nats I've had. The nose is so expressive — you can actually smell distinct things rather than just "wine smell." Bought it as a birthday treat for myself and zero regrets. Would absolutely buy again.
Greek wines are having a moment
Saw this on a restaurant menu and figured why not. So glad I did. There's genuine complexity here — the mid-palate has this depth that kept surprising me. The finish is long and smooth, no weird aftertaste. Chatzivaritis is a name I'm remembering.
Good with food
Brought this to my mate's BBQ and it went down brilliantly with grilled chicken and halloumi. The bright acidity cuts through richer food really well. At 12% it's not too heavy either so you can actually enjoy a couple of glasses in the sun without falling asleep.
Bit pricey for what it is
It's nice enough, don't get me wrong. Clean finish, decent structure, easy to drink. But over thirty quid for a pet nat? I've had ones at half the price that I enjoyed just as much. Would try other things from this producer at a lower price point.
Interesting stuff
Not your usual white wine which is exactly what I wanted. It's got this nice balance where it's complex enough to be interesting but not so out there that it's hard work. Clean finish too, no funky aftertaste that some natural wines get. Worth trying if you're curious about pet nats.
