Digby Rose Brut 2014
Rosé 12% ABV ABV DigbyEnglish sparkling convert
I'll be honest I never really rated English sparkling wine until I tried this. There's so much going on — layers of flavour that kept surprising me. It's crisp and structured but not harsh at all. Digby clearly know what they're doing.
Decent, wanted to love it more
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and figured I'd try it. It's well made for sure, nice clean nose and good acidity. But at this price point I expected something that'd really blow me away and it was more quietly impressive than exciting, if that makes sense. Would still recommend trying it though.
Nice but bit steep
Had this at a friend's dinner party and thought it was really good — clean, fresh, quite complex for English sparkling. Looked it up afterwards and £48.50 is a lot though. I'd probably reach for a decent cremant at half the price for everyday drinking, but it is genuinely lovely stuff.
Great with Sunday lunch
The guy at our local wine shop recommended this and I'm glad he did. Really well balanced, not too sweet, and the finish just sort of hangs around nicely. We had it with roast chicken and it was perfect. The rosé colour is gorgeous too.
Proper English fizz
Bought this for my wife's birthday and we were both really impressed. It's got this lovely crisp acidity and the fruit flavours just keep coming — not sweet at all, more like proper grown-up fizz. At £48.50 it's not cheap but honestly it's better than a lot of champagne I've had at that price.
Our new celebration bottle
Picked this up for New Year's Eve and it went down a treat. Everyone commented on how good it was. It's dry and elegant with a really pleasant finish that lingers. We're not massive wine nerds but even we could tell this was a cut above the usual prosecco. Already ordered another couple of bottles.
