Daniel Bouland Chiroubles 2024
Red 14% ABV ABV Daniel BoulandReally impressed with this one
Picked this up after the guy at my local wine shop recommended it. For a Beaujolais it's got way more going on than I expected — proper depth and the fruit is really clean and bright. At £27.75 it's not cheap for a weeknight bottle but I'd definitely buy it again for a nice dinner.
Solid Chiroubles
Bought this for a dinner party and it went down well with everyone. Nice bright fruit, not too heavy despite being 14% which surprised me. Good wine, does what it should, though I've had Chiroubles at lower price points that I enjoyed just as much.
Bit pricey for what it is
It's fine. Pleasant enough, clean finish, easy to drink. But nearly £28 for a Chiroubles feels steep when you can get great cru Beaujolais for less. I kept wanting it to wow me and it just... didn't quite get there.
Goes down dangerously easy
Had this with a lamb stew on a cold night and it was perfect. Really expressive on the nose — you can smell the fruit before you even take a sip. The finish is the kind where you just keep reaching for your glass without thinking. Didn't realise it was 14% until I checked the bottle, which says a lot.
Nice birthday treat
My partner got me this for my birthday since I've been getting into Beaujolais lately. It's got more structure than most Chiroubles I've tried, with a lovely acidity that keeps everything balanced. Would happily have it again but probably wouldn't buy it regularly at that price.
One of my favourite finds this year
Saw this on a restaurant menu and liked it so much I tracked down a bottle to have at home. The fruit is so clear and bright, and there's a real complexity in the middle that I wasn't expecting from Chiroubles. Absolutely loved it. Already ordered more.
