Croft 2007 Vintage Port
Fortified 20% ABV ABV CroftProper grown-up port
Got this as a birthday present and I'm glad someone else paid the £67 because I probably wouldn't have splashed out myself. That said, it's really lovely — smooth, complex, and the finish just lingers on and on. Perfect with a bit of stilton after dinner.
Nice but steep price
Bit pricey for what it is if I'm honest. It's a good port, well balanced and the fruit flavours are nice, but I've had ports at half the price that I've enjoyed just as much. Would maybe wait for a deal on this one.
Solid vintage port
I've been getting into port over the last year or so and this Croft 2007 is one of the better ones I've tried. Clean acidity keeps it from being too heavy and there's a real depth to the dark fruit. Goes brilliantly with chocolate cake.
Expected more for the money
Had this at a friend's dinner party and it was decent enough but honestly didn't blow me away. It's well made and the fruit is there, but at nearly seventy quid I wanted something that'd really knock my socks off. Maybe I just need to give port more of a chance.
Slow sipper for a cold evening
Picked this up after seeing it on a menu at a restaurant and wanting to try a full bottle at home. It's the kind of thing you pour a small glass of and just sit with. The way the flavours sort of gradually fade at the end is really satisfying. Not an everyday drink at that price but a proper treat.
Christmas dinner hero
Bought this for Christmas dinner and it completely stole the show. The dark fruit flavours are gorgeous and it just kept getting better as the evening went on. At 20% it packs a punch but doesn't feel boozy somehow. Would absolutely buy again.
The wine shop guy was right
Bloke at the wine shop recommended this when I said I wanted something special for our anniversary. He wasn't wrong. Really layered and interesting — every sip you notice something different. The finish goes on forever. My wife loved it too which is the main thing.
