Cottonworth Classic Cuvee
Red 14% ABV ABV CottonworthSolid red, needs time to open up
Don't drink this straight away — it needs a good 20 minutes to breathe before it really gets going. Once it opens up though the fruit comes through nicely and there's a savoury thing going on at the end that I liked. Good but not mindblowing.
Really impressed with this one
Bought this for a dinner party and it went down really well. Lovely dark fruit flavours and it's got this nice structure to it without being too heavy. At £30 it's not cheap but honestly felt worth it for a special occasion.
Birthday treat that delivered
Got this as a birthday present for myself and really glad I did. It's got proper depth to it — dark berries and something almost savoury underneath. Had it with a slow-cooked lamb shoulder and it was perfect. 14% but doesn't taste boozy at all which is a plus.
Absolutely loved this
This is the kind of wine that makes you sit up and pay attention. The fruit is really well defined and there's layers to it that kept me coming back for another sip. My partner who usually sticks to white wine even said it was good. Cottonworth have done a great job here.
Bit pricey for what it is
The wine shop guy recommended this and it's fine, perfectly drinkable, but I'm not sure I'd pay £30 again. There are reds I enjoy just as much for half the price. The tannins are smooth though and it's well made, just didn't wow me personally.
Nice with steak
Picked this up after seeing it on a restaurant menu and wanting to try it at home. Goes brilliantly with red meat. Clean finish and balanced acidity. Would buy again but probably keep it for weekends rather than a Tuesday night kind of wine at that price.
