Coteaux du Loir Vieilles Vignes Eparses Domaine de Belliviere 2020
Red 14% ABV ABV De BelliviereGood but not sure it's worth £47
Had this at a friend's dinner party and it was nice enough. Well made, good structure, decent finish. But honestly for nearly fifty quid I expected to be more blown away. I've had Loire reds at half the price that I enjoyed just as much.
Lovely old vines character
Been getting into Loire reds lately and this is one of the better ones I've tried. The old vines thing is real — there's a depth and concentration you don't get from younger plantings. Balanced and clean on the finish. Would happily share this with anyone who thinks Loire is only about Sancerre.
Solid but intense
Got this as a gift and it's definitely quality. Maybe a bit full-on for me personally — 14% and you can feel it. The fruit and acidity work well together though and it's clearly well made. Would suit someone who likes their reds on the bigger side more than I do.
Opened up beautifully
Saw this on a restaurant wine list and took a punt on it. So glad I did. Absolutely packed with flavour from the first sip, really well balanced with proper structure. The finish just keeps going. One of those wines that makes you sit back and go yeah, that's the good stuff.
Seriously impressed
Picked this up from a wine shop in Bath on the guy's recommendation and wow. Really bold and expressive — you can smell it the second you pour. Loads going on flavour-wise, proper layered and complex. At £47 it's not cheap but I'd buy it again for a special occasion.
Perfect with lamb
Bought this for my wife's birthday dinner and it was a hit. Really aromatic when you open it, doesn't need ages to breathe which is always a bonus when you're trying to get food on the table. Went brilliantly with the slow-cooked lamb shoulder. 14% so it's got some weight to it.
