Zara Al-Hassan VIPsAllowed - Birthday treat that delivered
9/10

Bought this for my 40th and honestly it was the highlight of the night. Really biscuity and toasty with lovely orchard fruit — reminded me of the fancy stuff we had at a wedding once. It lingers in the best way, kept going back for more. At £52 it's not cheap but for a special occasion it's worth every penny.

Ayako Hirano VIPsAllowed - Perfect dinner party wine
8/10

Brought this to a friend's dinner party and everyone asked about it. It's got this lovely toasty thing going on and the finish just goes on and on. Not too heavy either at 12.5% which meant we could happily have a few glasses without falling asleep before dessert.

Daisy Miller VIPsAllowed - Properly good champagne
8/10

Had this at a restaurant first and liked it enough to track down a bottle. It's complex without being try-hard — layers of fruit and that biscuity quality you get from proper champagne. Not a celebration popper, more of a sit-down-and-actually-enjoy-it kind of wine.

Sara Lindstrom VIPsAllowed - Nice but maybe not £53 nice
7/10

Got this recommended at Majestic and it's solid champagne, don't get me wrong. Good depth, not one of those thin fizzy ones that taste like sparkling water. But for north of fifty quid I think I expected a bit more wow factor. Would probably reach for something else at that price point.
